At The Root of This Longing

In the Christian church, the place of women in leadership has often been discussed in light of ancient and modern views. Carol Lee Flinders in her book, "At The Root of This Longing" addresses questions such as, "Can you be a feminist and lead a spiritually fulfilling life in today's world?" Does your yearning for spiritual connection often feel caught in a tug-of-war with your desire to be strong, independent, and equally valued?"

2. To be a woman was to be devious, frivolous, sensual, and intellectually deficient" (page 19, first paragraph).
